Quote shopping · Run for homeowners, not contractors

Your contractor quote is probably too high.

Send it to us. We'll shop it against 15–20 local contractors and bring back their best written bids — you pick, you save.

Contractors give their best price when they know they're bidding against 19 others. One quote, asked alone, is rarely that price.

No contractor commissions. No kickbacks. We work for you — the only side we're on.

How it works

You already did the hard part — getting one contractor out to quote the job. We turn that single number into a market.

1

Send your quote + project details

The quote you got, what the project actually is — size, materials, timeline. Two minutes on one form. That's your whole job.

2

We shop it

15–20 local contractors get your exact spec and are asked for a written bid. They never get your name or address until you say so — they just know they're one of twenty.

3

You get every bid, side-by-side

One report: every written bid, what each one actually includes, and our pick with the reasoning. You choose the winner — or keep your original quote with a clear conscience.

Why one quote is never enough

In one documented test, the same pool project drew written quotes from $120K to $240K — and the homeowner saved ~$50K just by shopping the job instead of signing the first number.

That's Chris Koerner's published experiment — not our result, and not a promise. We have no results of our own to show you yet; SecondBid is new. What we can promise is the process: your spec, twenty contractors, every bid in writing.

Trades we shop at launch

Roofing, concrete, HVAC, remodeling, pools, and fencing — in most US metros. Holding a quote in a different trade? Ask for a free verdict and we'll tell you straight if we can shop it.

Pricing

Flat fees, paid once. On a five-figure project, even one competing bid usually pays for this many times over.

Questions, answered straight

Are you a contractor?

No. SecondBid is not a contractor and never does the work. We work for the homeowner — we take your project spec to the market and bring the bids back. We never take contractor commissions or kickbacks; our only revenue is the flat fee you pay. If that ever changes, we'll say so, plainly, on this page.

How fast is it?

Free verdicts go out by email within 24 hours. For a Quote Shop, contractors are contacted within 24 hours of your intake, and your full bid report lands in 3–5 business days. Shop + Negotiate adds a 7-day negotiation window after the bids are in.

What if nobody beats my quote?

Then your report still shows you the whole market — every written bid next to your original quote — and you'll know your number was fair before you sign. That's worth having. And on the Quote Shop tier: if zero bids come back at all, the $49 is refunded in full. Same on Shop + Negotiate.

What do contractors see about me?

Your project spec — the work, the size, the materials, the ZIP — and nothing else. Your name, address, and contact details stay with us until you pick a winner and tell us to make the introduction.

Which areas do you cover?

Most US metros, across roofing, concrete, HVAC, remodeling, pools, and fencing. If your metro turns out to be too thin to shop properly, we'll tell you before we start — and the zero-bid refund covers you if a shop comes back empty.
